Indian Sandstone Patio & Tumbled brick beds in Blackburn

What we were asked to solve

The lawn sat uneven and patchy, so it never looked finished and was hard to maintain. Hard surfaces and edges needed a clearer layout so water, mowing and day-to-day use were simpler. The client wanted a practical rear garden: level grass that would establish cleanly, a solid patio underfoot to replace tired old decking, and defined borders instead of a soft, messy edge between lawn and fencing.

How we delivered it

We levelled the lawn then laid general-purpose turf on fresh topsoil with anti-mole mesh anchored underneath. We took out the old decking and fitted Raj Green Indian Sandstone on a solid value base and finished with resin pointing. We built a raised pot shelf and corner planting bed with rustic tumbled bricks and matching sandstone toppers. Borders were set with rustic charcoal kerb edging in concrete, and golden gravel was laid over weed-resistant membrane to give a clean, low-maintenance edge between lawn, paving and the fence line.

Outcome for the homeowner

The garden now has a level, protected lawn, a durable sandstone patio and tidy gravel borders. Outdoor space is easier to use and maintain, with a sharper finish from the house out to the boundary.
