Composite Decking, Sandstone Paving & French Drain in Bridge

What we were asked to solve

The outdoor space needed more than a tidy-up. Poor drainage and wet-weather puddling made everyday use awkward, and the hardstanding no longer gave a reliable place to sit or walk. The client wanted a clean, well-drained sitting area, better surface-water control and clearer borders so the garden felt organised rather than makeshift. Levels and edges needed sorting so water and mud were less of a problem after rain. The photos below show the garden before work began.

How we delivered it

We cleared and prepared the site, then installed a French drain to help manage surface water. Composite decking was built on a pressure-treated timber frame to create a durable, low-maintenance sitting area. We laid Indian sandstone paving on a full hardcore and cement base with resin pointing for a long-lasting finish. Slate gravel neatened the edges beside the fence and shed line, while wooden boards and kerb edging defined borders and raised beds.

Outcome for the homeowner

The garden now offers usable hard surfaces in wet weather, better control of runoff around the deck and paving, and cleaner defined edges. The client has a practical outdoor layout that is easier to maintain and more inviting day to day.
