A full paving base uses 100mm of type 1 MOT (hardcore) followed by 50mm of concrete then the paving. This creates a very sturdy base with good drainage and will allow very little movement over time.

Full paving bases use 300kg of materials per m2 which is reflected in the price.
Our value paving base doesn’t use any MOT (hardcore) and just 60mm of concrete. This creates a stable base but is only suitable for areas which:
Value paving bases can save up to 40% of the cost of new paving but they are only suitable for some gardens.
A sand base uses 80mm of type 1 MOT (hardcore) and 40mm of coarse sand. This creates a stable base with very good drainage.
Sand bases can be used for block paving and concrete slabs. They must have a hard perimeter because the materials do not bond together.
