We build amazing gardens for residential and commercial customers in Preston and the North West.

Working on everything from small fencing work to £30,000 + luxury gardens, we are involved in a wide range of work with no two days the same.

We are currently looking to expand and need to hire a team leader capable of managing small sites and running jobs from start to finish.

About the job

We are involved in small and large projects so you will be on some sites for a day and others for up to 3 months.

The ideal candidate will be able to act as a leader and role model for their team. This means being able to motivate and direct others whilst carrying out the work along side the team.

As a team leader you will have a lot of responsibility, we will expect you to run smaller projects from start to finish. Managing up to 3 trainees and landscape gardeners and guiding their development.

The work is very physically demanding and team leaders are expected to set an example with the speed and quality of their work.

What we are looking for

Physical fitness. Building gardens involves using powerful machinery and moving heavy materials. To be effective in this role you will need the strength and endurance to lift and move things for up to 8 hours per day.

Ability to work out the best ways of doing things. Being profitable depends on the speed that work is completed. We don’t cut corners so efficiency is what we are looking for. As a supervisor we expect you to be constantly looking to improve and refine what we do.

Attitude. We expect a good attitude from all of our staff but as a team leader it is essential that you are proactive, honest and hard working.

The right characteristics. We want our whole team to get on and for everyone to be effective and happy in their job.

Skills. We hire for attitudes and train for skills. Skills and experience are important but not essential to the role. They are:

You don’t have to be the complete package and we look more at attitude and natural ability than at any specific skills.

Training and progression

The amount you earn is in your hands.

You will start out on the base salary of £22,609.00 per year. The first month will be assessing your attitude and training you in the core skills of the job.

From the end of month 1 you will be eligible for a monthly bonus of up to £300. To qualify for the bonus you need to hit set standards on a variety of skills.

This usually take people 3 – 6 months but some have achieved this in less than two months.

Training will be delivered on the job with written feedback and a clear measurement of you skill level.
